Just In: Two Akeredolu’s Appointees Resign Over Ex-governor’s Death

  The Special Adviser to the Ondo state governor on union matters and special duties, Dare Aragbaye and the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Richard Olatunde, have resigned from their appointments. Aragbaye in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government SSG, dated December 27, said he was resigning because of the death of the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, has sworn in Lucky Aiyedatiwa as governor. Aiyedatiwa was sworn in at the governor’s office in Akure at exactly 5:14 pm Present at the ceremony include the Speaker of the state House of Assembly Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, members of the assembly, the secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu and the state chairman of the ruling party APC, Ade Adetimehin. Adebutu Reports At Ogun Police Headquarters Over Vote-buying Allegation

  The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, on Wednesday, visited the state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, over allegations of vote-buying during the March 18 elections. Adebutu, who returned to Nigeria after over six months in the United Kingdom, arrived at the police headquarters around 11 am to honour a police invite over allegations by the All Progressives Congress that he bought votes with preloaded ATM cards during the polls. The Chairman of the APC in Ogun, Yemi Sanusi, had petitioned the police, accusing Adebutu and other PDP members of vote-buying. The case is now in court. FLASH: Ondo Gov Akeredolu Is Dead

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State is dead. According to reports, Akeredolu died in Lagos on Wednesday. The Ondo governor died at the age of  67. It was learnt that he was managed by State House doctors up to his death because they could not fly him abroad. “Akeredolu is dead; he died in Lagos,” a reliable source told Vanguard. “They were looking for dialysis machines to be sent to his secret location in Lagos last week.” Recall that the ailing governor returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany. Recently, he went on another medical leave after being directed by President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. His deputy, Aiyedatiwa, has been standing in as acting governor. Popular Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Ojogwu, aka Odumodublvck has recounted how he once got a bottle of beer as a reward for his performance at a show. He stated that the incident occurred in 2017, when he was just getting started in his career. The ‘Declan Rice’ singer revealed this in the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast co-hosted by Motolani and Melody. He said, “I once was performed for a bottle of Hero beer. Me and Reeplay went to the show. We went in his black Amera car. He sold the car for N120,000. The car knocked on the road. When he came back, the car was bashed so we sold it for scrap. “The bottles of beer that were given to us weren’t even the planned payment. The owner gave it to us out of his generosity and also because he said our performance was great. Three Inmates Escape From Correctional Centre In Ogun

  Three inmates of the Ijebu Ode Correctional Home in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State have escaped from the facility, BEYOND AFRICA gathered. The Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, Victor Oyeleke on Tuesday, confirmed the jailbreak. Oyeleke disclosed that the incident happened early Saturday morning around 3 am. He said, “Yes, it is confirmed, it happened in the early hours of Saturday morning around 3 am. A search party to bring the three of them back has been raised. We have their biometrics and we have contacts of their families. “We are working together with other sister agencies and in good time they will be brought back”. Technician Electrocuted While Erecting Billboard In Ogun

A technician identified as Badmus Ola has reportedly died of electrocution in the Kajola area via Owode-Egba, Ogun State. According to an eyewitness, the incident happened around 4.45 pm on Christmas Day. BEYOND AFRICA learnt that the technician, along with five others, had been contracted to remove a billboard  in the area and replace it with a new one. However, while replacing it with another one, the deceased victim was said to have held on to an iron rod. The source noted that Ola was electrocuted when the iron rod he held mistakenly touched the high-tension cable. Confirming the incident, the state Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, said the corpse had been removed and deposited at a mortuary in the area. “It happened yesterday (Monday) when they were removing a billboard. He died instantly. The corpse has been deposited at the Idera Hospital Morgue,” Odutola said.
