Government Will Take Over Homes Without Toilets – Ogun Commissioner

Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya has restated the commitment of Ogun state government to tackle the menace of open defecation.

Oresanya noted that the landlords who build their houses without toilets will forfeit such home to the government.

The commissioner made this known during an interview recently.

According to him, the state government has already begin a campaign against open defecation.

He said: "Yes, we started the campaign on open defecation, and this started last year. It’s not a matter of forcing people to comply. In line with the laws, we are making it public again; anyone who has a house without a toilet will forfeit it to the government.

"We give you a period of compliance to make sure you convert one of the rooms to a toilet, and if you refuse to do it, it means you don’t need the house. The law permits us to take over such a house. It is in the public interest, so you don’t endanger the lives of the people living in the community."
