Osun Parliamentary Staff Suspend Strike As Adeleke Presents Budget Today

The Osun State chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has suspended its ongoing strike for one day to enable Governor Ademola Adeleke to present the 2024 budget to the state House of Assembly, BEYOND AFRICA learnt.

The chairman of PASAN in the state, Akeem Adekunle announced the suspension of the strike at the Osun Assembly Complex, Osogbo, on Wednesday after meeting with the Speaker, Adewale Egbedun.

Adekunle told journalists that the association had agreed to suspend the strike on Thursday to allow the governor to present the 2024 budget.

He said the strike would, however, continue on Friday until the Assembly’s financial autonomy is granted.

“The strike is still on, but for tomorrow, Thursday, it would be temporarily suspended in the interest and development of the state. The governor is coming tomorrow to present the budget to the Assembly, so pending the time of his presentation, the strike will be temporarily suspended,” he said.

BEYOND AFRICA gathered that Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier written the House Speaker, Hon Adewale Egbedun on the proposed submission as statutorily stipulated by extant laws.

The Governor is to be accompanied by members of the State Executive Council and the leadership of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
