Osun Youth Launch "Pad A Girl" Project In 2 Communities


The Nigeria Youths Congress (NYC) Osun State Chapter has launched "Pad a Girl Child" project at Owode Adejuwon Grammar School in Ede North and Ede South Local Government respectively.

This is in a bid to bolster awareness and education surrounding menstrual health and hygiene among young girls.

The initiative was led by the Osun Governor's wife, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke and the Chief of Staff's wife, Mrs. Alhaja Balikis Akinleye.

According to NYC, the project aimed at empowering and educate girls on menstrual health.

Erelu Adeleke who is the project's ambassador and the emphasized the importance of academic dedication, character development, personal growth, and extended her heartfelt wishes for the students' success. She announced permanent supply arrangements for two students.

Also, Alhaja Akinleye delved into discussions about the menstrual cycle, educating girls on tracking their cycles and the significance of maintaining personal hygiene.

The Olu Owode, Oba Azeez Nureni Oyedepo, represented by Chief Kehinde Salau Asipa of Owode, encouraged the children to adapt with the times, employ sanitary practices, and remain diligent students.

The Chairman of NYC Osun State chapter, Comrade Oluwasegun Akinbode while  highlighting the project's primary goal said it address the challenges faced by girls in menstrual hygiene and fostering personal development.

He said the initiative aims to contribute to the well-being and self-efficacy of girls in the community, ultimately fostering sustainable development in the nation.

The "Pad a Girl Child" project, through its comprehensive education and support, aims to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of girls, contributing to their overall well-being and development.
